Soxalito

Brief

I was approached to design a logo for Soxalito’s website, which is a locally owned boutique shop that sells socks and gifts based in Sausalito, California. They just wanted a logo for their website, but I explored what their brand could be and made it into a nice portfolio piece. Sausalito is a hip, bayside city just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, visited by many tourists throughout the year, and is home to a friendly, eclectic group of people with a variety of boutique shops, art studios and galleries and restaurants. I wanted to position Soxalito as not just a novelty store where tourists stop by to purchase a pair of comical cat socks to bring back as a souvenir, but a go-to place to get cool, well-designed socks to encourage people to “impress your feet.” The logo they decided on was a simple geometric emblem which was supported by similar geometric patterns for the sock designs that could also be utilized as graphic elements.
