Brief
Growing up skateboarding, no skate soundtrack was complete without listening to the early thrash metal stylings of Metallica. In my opinion, the first four studio albums during the 1980’s are by far the best, and inspired me to create a series of retro-style posters. The posters are based on the original album cover artwork where I took the basic idea and imagery from each album and presented them minimally with bold typography and vintage illustrations. The infamous Metallica wordmark with the iconic horn-like drop caps on the “M” and “A” is stripped down to create a simple “M” monogram.
